Membership / Fees
LVSC Club Membership Fee
The annual LVSC club membership fee is £60 per child, payable in a one off payment of £60 in October (£55 if qualify for the sibling discount). Fees should be paid in full by cash or cheque (payable to Leithen Vale Sports Club) to your coach at the time of club membership.
Registration with the Club
Each child must be registered with the club. All new starts will be provided with a Registration form which must be completed as quickly as possible and returned to your coach. The Registration forms provide the Club with vital information and contact details, and in the unlikely event of a serious incident, the necessary authority to ensure your child is given the correct care and attention. Without these forms the Club, and the coaches, are not insured to take your child on coaching sessions or to matches.

• Opponents – Encourage all players to show respect to opposition – Play hard and play fair.
• Official – Encourage all players to value a referee’s role and always show respect.

Redefine Winning

• Sustained effort to achieve set goals – encourage players to work hard to achieve in whatever they do.
• Don’t focus on results, focus players to learn and improve to master skills and improve performance.
• Mistakes happen – more important is we encourage players respond quickly to recover.

Build a young player’s confidence, motivation and resilience:
• Encourage players to give praise and encouragement to their teammates.
• Give positive encouragement of effort irrespective of outcome or result.
• Encourage young players to be confident and don’t be scared to try things.

CLUB HISTORY
How It All Began
Leithen Vale Sports Club, the brain child of local man Mr Andrew Caldwell and was was founded in 1985. It was to provide Innerleithen and the surrounding area a place for both boys & girls of all ages to get involved in sport and was primarily to be used as the first step in producing the next generation of kids to move on to the towns local football clubs Leithen Rovers and Vale of Leithen.
Where We Are
The club are based in Innerleithen, 6 miles east of Peebles and 12 miles west of Galashiels. With a population of around 2,500 it is the eighth largest settlement in the Borders, and is situated at the junction of the Leithen Water and the River Tweed in the eastern part of Tweeddale formerly known as Peeblesshire.
The Club Crest
The club crest, features the figure of St Ronan in his boat, to depict the sojourn through life. St Ronan is a major figure in the folklore of Innerleithen and surrounding area, with street names, local landmarks, a school, a silver band and a hotel/bar named after him, while his legend features heavily during the annual summer festival. St Ronan is said to protect Innerleithen from the devil and uses the crook in his left hand to ‘cleik’ (catch) him. In his right hand he holds a lantern to show him the way. As well as featuring the club name, the crest also features the club motto, ‘Keep Faith’.
The Early Days
When LVSC first started we had over 200 members taking part in a variety of sports which included Football, athletics, swimming, hockey and Badminton. Now unfortunately our numbers have decreased, we currently have around 70 members, with kids ages 5 to 12 and due to the lack of facilities in the town we solely concentrate on Football.
Such was the success of the Sports Club in the early days, We used to host an international football tournament every 2 years with teams coming from France, Belgium and all over Scotland to take part.
25 Years!
On Sunday the 29th of August 2010, Leithen Vale Sports Club held the 25th Anniversary Football Tournament to commemorate 25 great years.
More Recently
We recently were granted new changing facilities from the Scottish Football Partnership, which for our club was massive, it gave the kids something to be proud of and a sense of belonging.
A Great Love Of Sport
The town has a great love for sport and there aren’t many better places to play your football.
Success!
Many players have come through the LVSC ranks. Steven Notman and Ross Campbell have played with Hibernian and were capped at youth level for Scotland.
While Murray Davidson now of St Johnstone became the first player to be full capped for Scotland, this is something we at the club are very proud of.
